Breathe new life into your web operation as Travel 2.0 takes hold

Now that we have all returned from Tenerife, I would like to thank all of you who attended my presentation at the Travel Convention.CWT Web 2.0 Presentation at ABTA

I hope you had as much fun as I did, and I know there was some sun out there but I can’t remember seeing it! Besides all the fun to be had, we were there to talk travel and I felt the presentations and discussions captured all the hot issues in the industry right now.

On the Thursday I could be found in the ‘first master class session,’ explaining Travel 2.0. In the Internet world, Web 2.0 has changed the way the travel industry can operate online. Over 200 people turned up to see my presentation and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous at the start!

Some interesting snippets from my presentation;
·    The most popular use of the Internet is for researching, planning and booking travel
·    82% of Internet users are searching for travel
·    70% of consumers stated that peer reviews had a positive impact on their buying decision
·    Reviews, blogs, wikis, photos and videos all improve content, rankings, usability and customer retention
·    Social networks such as myspace and facebook can be used to generate traffic to websites
